In life one may have desires which they wish to complete. Many seek riches and wealth. Some seek love and acceptance. Others live a life of sin while hoping to be filled. I have had a part in each of those above mentioned desires. I have found that each has an endless appetite. I also found that my place in life is to serve Jesus. That being said, my desire for my life is to see the Power of God that is promised in the Bible.
Why desire God’s Power?
- God will be glorified – In a day when society is full of pride, when one has the Power of God, it is God that works, and not man. So many today are doing the Lord’s work in man’s power, and we receive man’s results. Man receives the glory. When God does the work, we see God’s results. When God works, there is fruit that remains. When God does the work, man is not known. We should not be asking “Where are the Elijahs?” Rather, we should be asking “Where is the God of Elijah?”
- The people of God will be sanctified – When the Power of God is evident, we see that God works among His people to bring them to a place where He can use them. This is being made a vessel unto honor. A vessel made unto honor is a clean vessel. This cleansing process is called sanctification. All saved people are instantly sanctified in the eyes of God upon the moment of salvation, but we will have a flesh as long as we live on this earth. In order to move forward with God, we must be progressively sanctified. How do we do it? With the Help and Power of God.
- The lost will be justified – When the power of God is evident, His people are holy, and these holy people of God are used to reach out to the lost. When the Power of God is truly present, the lost are drawn to the Cross by the witness of those saved individuals who are filled with God’s Power. This Power breaks the sinner by conviction, and they call on Jesus to save them. Upon that faith in Christ, they are made righteous in the eyes of God.
This is the plan of God for our day and age. As I traveled to preach at different churches, I would always ask my wife to look on the internet for independent Baptist churches in the cities we passed. To my concern, we found that not many cities in the Western United States of America had solid Bible preaching churches. My desire is that God empowers me to the extent that I can be used in some way to reach these entire cities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That will take the Power of God. I want God to use me!
