About Plea For Power
Hello, my name is Estevan Montoya. This is my wonderful family that God has blessed me with. We are sent out of Valley Bible Baptist, Espanola, NM. We are in the church planting and local church revival/evangelism ministry. Based in Taos, NM, we planted an Mountain View Baptist Church and travel the Southwest of America preaching for revival and encouraging churches to plant more churches.
(Well, I preach, but my family travels wife me most of the time.)
It is my desire to see God sent one last Biblical revival before the last times. I believe that church planting is essential to see this take place. This website is dedicated to seeking God for his power to plant churches and see revival take place.
This is what Plea For Power is all about…seeking God!
With the help of a podcast and articles, I will share with you that which God is teaching me from His Word.
I did not have the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. My parents were divorced when I was a young child, and this caused a lot confusion. My mother wanted me to have Godly influence, but she couldn’t find what she knew was right for me. While this was going on, I began to be influenced by the bad crowd, and this caused him to be somewhat rebellious. While in High School, I made some mistakes, which eventually led me to be placed in a Christian School. It was at this school that I began to hear the truth of my sin. I went to this school for almost an entire year without ever being saved. I continued my lifestyle of sin without the school finding out. During a Wednesday night service, under the preaching of a missionary, I realized how wicked I was in the Eyes of a Holy God. It was that night that I wept at an altar, “People think I’m something I’m tired of living a lie, would please forgive me?” And that night those tears of sorrow became tears of joy as the stain of sin was washed away by the Precious Blood of Jesus.
Shortly after my conversion, God began to call me to preach. After seeing my friend, Steven Reyes, answer the call to preach, God began to tell me that I needed to follow God. This would be hurdle in my life, because I already began to pursue a career in Web/Graphic Design. I fought the call of God for a months, but preaching got a hold of me once again. During a regional competition of Baptist schools in New Mexico, God used Pastor Brain McMath to speak to my heart. The first night of the meeting I answered the call of God for my life, and to my surprise, it was also the answer to the sixteen years of prayers my mother had be making since I was born.
I attended Golden State Baptist College, and while at college I met my future wife, Eileen. We dated for three years before marriage. I had the blessing of helping my future wife find the assurance of Salvation just weeks before our marriage. Just one week after graduation, we were married.
Not knowing what was next, we went back to my home church, Rio Grande Baptist Church. While serving as Assistant Pastor, I knew God wanted me in Evangelism. I had to make sure that God was leading me, and after much prayer and listening to God in preaching, it was evident that God called me. During this time God blessed the us two daughters.
God called the our family to Taos, NM to start a KJV Independent Baptist Church. We started MVBC May 18th, 2008.
It has not always been easy. That is why I made Plea For Power, to encourage God’s men that are planting churches and leading churches. God used this verse to help me get through some dark days:
And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
Regarding doctrine, I am an independent Baptist. I only preach and study from a King James Bible. I am a Baptist without apology, practicing both ecclesiastical and personal separation from worldly false doctrine.
Here are a few other doctrinal points:
We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and that they compose the entire Word of God. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. We believe that God has inspired and preserved His Word, and that the King James Bible is the Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each coeternal in being, coidentical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14; John 14:10, 26)
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19) and that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again.
We believe that the local church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again scripturally baptized persons. (I Corinthians 12:12-14; II Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-27). We recognize water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the membership of the local church only.
We believe in that “blessed hope,” the personal, imminent return of Christ Who will rapture of the saved prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel. (Psalm 89:3-4; Daniel 2:31-45; Zechariah 14:4-11; I Thessalonians 1:10; 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6)
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, inexcusable taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the mental well-being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16; Psalm 51:5; 139:14-16; Isaiah 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jeremiah 1:5, 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate physical activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography is a sinful perversion of God’s original intent for a physical relationship between a husband and wife. (Genesis 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4)
I pray that God uses this website for His Glory. I truly desire that God would send Biblical Revival without confusion of false doctrine. As the Bible teaches, the last days will be filled lies. I want to preach truth in these last days.
