Archives For how to have the power of God

3 Preaching LessonsAfter a few years of pastoring, every preacher picks up a few things they wished they learned before. They make a mistake or handle something in a way that could have been handled differently. There are lessons learned, and maybe you are one of the many preachers that wished you would have learned such lessons sooner.

Don’t worry. You’re in good company. In fact, that is really the only way God can help you grow. It is my firm belief that once we stop growing, we start dying. A preacher should be in a continual state of openness toward God and the lessons that must be learned.

With that being said, there are some preaching lessons I wish I learned before going into the ministry. Let me make this statement:

Just because a lesson is taught, it doesn’t mean it’s learned.

I had great mentors and preachers that influenced me. While they tried their best, there were some lessons only God can teach. I thank God for using these preachers in my life. God used them, and I hope and pray this little article will used by God to help you!

5 Attributes of Preaching Found in the book acts - authentic

As we continue our revival podcast series on 5 Attributes of Preaching Found in the Book of Acts, we left off with a post about preaching that applies to the hearers. Today, we are going to take another look at preaching in the book of Acts, which is: Preaching that is Authentic.

We, as preachers of the Gospel must always remember that we are but mere men with the calling of God on our life. Without God, we are nothing. Therefore, we ought not to think of ourselves as anything special or better than anyone else. We see this attribute in the life of the Apostle Paul. He knew exactly who he was in the eyes of God. Because of such a self-realization, he was able to relate to his hearers. We are going to learn about being an authentic preacher from the Apostle Paul’s farewell address. Enjoy!

Scripture Used: Acts 20:25-31

Points Made:
  • He made personal relationships
  • He understood his responsibility
  • He preached all of the Word of God to feed people
  • He warned of false teaching
  • He did it out of love

5 Attributes of Preaching Found in the book acts - applies

As a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I want to preach in a manner that is Biblical. There are many types of preaching out there. Yes, some are good, but are they Biblical? If we are to become a Biblical preacher, we must craft our messages as found in the Bible. With that thought, I am excited to share a series on Preaching – 5 Attributes of Preaching Found in the Book of Acts.

They will be preaching podcasts that teach what God’s Word demonstrates as Biblical preaching. Our first lesson will deal with the topic of Applying our message to our hearers. We take an example from the Apostle Paul in Acts 17. This Biblical example of preaching that applies to the hearers should compel God’s men to preach so that our hearers understand the message of God.

If this is a blessing to you, then I would encourage you to share the blessing. Please leave a comment and spread this with the share box below.

Enjoy!

  • He studied his audience
  • He understood that they did not understand
  • He used their thought process to expound God’s thought process
  • He never compromised the Gospel message to adapt to his hearers

I am thankful for old time preaching. One of my favorite preachers is baptist evangelist Harry Nix. I have personally never met this man, yet I feel like I know him because of his openness when he preachers the word of God. I first heard him in a song that mixed in preaching called “What the Preacher Said”. Since then, I have tried to find his sermons online. He is a hard one to come by, but when you find his sermons, they are great! I thank God for old time baptist preachers that still preach the Gospel and not mans rules.

This sermon is about an hour long. I know many people might be able to listen for that long, but if you want to hear to blessing, then listen old time preaching from Harry Nix.

Expository Preaching Changed My Life

Over the past few months, I was led to write articles about preaching. We covered Topical and Textual sermon styles. Today, I want to write about Expository preaching. I must admit, I was hesitant to write on the subject of expository preaching because I feel inadequate. The reason is because I am still in the process of learning how to successfully preach in an expository manner. This style of preaching, if obtained and preaching while full of the Holy Ghost will yield fruit that remains. Continue Reading…
